Connecting Communities impact

Our Connecting Communities programme helps remove barriers to walking, wheeling, and cycling, inspiring individuals and communities to embrace active travel.

At Cycling UK, we know that our behaviour change programmes have the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create a healthier, happier and greener Scotland.

From empowering those eager to boost their fitness to supporting seasoned riders in adopting greener transport options, Connecting Communities aims to make walking, wheeling, and cycling accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for everyone.

Through tailored interventions and partnerships with local organisations, Connecting Communities has already delivered measurable impact across Scotland. By providing training, support, and opportunities to walk, wheel and cycle, we’ve helped people improve their physical and mental wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and choose active travel.

Whether it’s a beginner learning to ride or a community champion inspiring others to take up walking, the stories behind this programme reflect its incredible reach and significance.
