Help protect funding for cycling
To create better places for people to live, and cycle paths which are well-designed and appealing to use, we need governments across the UK to put their money where their mouth is and invest in cycling.
We have a rare opportunity to press for long-term investment in England, as the UK government prepares its first Spending Review since 2021.
In Wales and Scotland however, funding for cycling is in jeopardy. Despite leading the way in recent years, the Welsh and Scottish governments are now backpedalling on the investment needed to tackle the climate crisis, improve public health, and give people real transport choices.
Wherever you live, this is our short window of opportunity to ensure money for cycling is protected.
Ask for more money for cycling in England
The upcoming multi-year spending review is a rare opportunity to secure long term funding commitments for cycling in England, as it will set department budgets for the next few years.
They want to hear what you think should be prioritised in the spending review. We’ve provided some suggested points to make it as easy as possible to respond before the consultation closes on 9 February.
Ask your MSPs to stop the cuts to active travel in Scotland
The Scottish government plans to slash more than £30 million from next year's active travel budget, while finding the money to increase spending on road building.
But there’s still time to act. The budget must first be approved by the Scottish Parliament in February 2025, so your MSPs can let the government know they don’t support the cuts and ask why it’s breaking its promises.
Ask your MSs to save the Welsh cycling budget
The Welsh budget failed to mention cycling.
We’re concerned that the government is about to backpedal on the investment needed to tackle the climate crisis, improve public health, and give people real transport choices.
That’s why we urgently need your help to save the active travel budget.
By writing to your MSs, you can show the government this matters to you.
