Chester & N Wales CTC 85th Anniversary & President's Ride 2024
Event description
Introduction
The Chester and N. Wales CTC President's Ride is a long established, annual event. It gives an opportunity for riders from all parts of our widely spread section to meet up socially whilst also enjoying a ride in either our beautiful Welsh or Cheshire scenery, (venue alternates year on year). This year, on the 85th anniversary of the founding of the section, it is Cheshire's turn again.
A warm lunch is provided (soup & sandwich, cake ,tea/coffee) at Tilston memorial Hall where the President's Trophy is awarded to a deserving member or group.
Location & Route
Start finish is at Walk Mill near Waverton. Car parking is available---please go to far end of car park to avoid crowding out other customers during the day.
The café is opening early at 09:30 especially for us. Please ensure you avail yourselves of this facility to cover free car parking arrangements.
We shall aim for photo call at 10:30 and be on our way by 10.45/11.00.
We are to provide a couple of routes with GPS to Tilston. One route is approximately 30km/19miles; the longer one 40km/25 miles. The return route is approximately 30km/19miles for all riders.
Participants may choose their own shorter options or drive direct to the lunch venue where there is car parking available.
Lunch is at Tilston Memorial Hall---12:30 for 1:00 pm.
The given routes are all on road (which can be poorly maintained in places) but not closed ones! Do take the time to enjoy this tour of our wonderful Cheshire lanes in the company of your fellow cyclists.
Route sheet and gpx files are to be made available to you during the week prior to the event.
Groups
Pick your own groups---but please not too large to allow other traffic to get past in our narrow lanes.
Refreshments & stops
Lunch is to be a sit down light meal with soup & bread followed by cake and tea or coffee. There is to be water to drink with the meal---anything beyond that you would need to bring with you. The hall does not have an alcohol licence.
Cycles
You are responsible for using a bicycle in safe, rideable, legal condition. Out of courtesy to other riders we would request that you fit at least an effective rear mudguard and flap if the roads are likely to be wet.
Ebikes can be used on this ride but please bear in mind that you need to have an ebike with adequate range, however that is organised.
Entry
We welcome all cyclists to this event. Minors, age 13 to 17 years, must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
If not a member of Cycling UK, you must ensure that ensure that sufficient insurance cover is in place.
The entry fee is £15- which includes lunch.
The fee is non-refundable.
Entries close at midnight on Monday 14th of October or when event is full which ever is the earlier
