A summer of cycling through the Big Bike Revival is here!

The Big Bike Revival TV advert airs this week
This week Cycling UK has launched its first ever TV ad campaign, promoting the Big Bike Revival to millions of viewers on the box and online.

Cycling UK has teamed up with national media partners ITV to promote the Big Bike Revival to millions of prospective cyclists this summer. A 30 second animated video, developed by creative agency DIVA, airs this week across the ITV Granada region (where the greatest number of Big Bike Revival events are taking place), and On Demand when viewers watch the Tour de France online or on their smart TVs.

The Big Bike Revival takes place throughout the summer , with bike recycling centres across England taking part to help make 2016 a Summer of Cycling. At these events, friendly mechanics will be on hand to make repairs or show you easy maintenance tips, activities for all ages to enjoy, and plenty of ways to learn how you can make the most of the summer by bike.

The TV advert uses characters that were initially developed for promotion of the Big Bike Revival online, and show a number of people across the ages, enjoying a summer of cycling at a Big Bike Revival event.

We need to be reaching out to the non-cycling but could-be-cycling public"

David Murray, Head of Communications and Campaigns, Cycling UK

David Murray, Head of Communications and Campaigns at Cycling UK, said of the partnership: "Cycling UK's Big Bike Revival is aimed at people who own a bike but haven't used it for some time, to help them to fall back in love with cycling. That means we need to be reaching out to a much wider audience and to those who we often sadly aren't talking to enough - the non-cycling but could-be-cycling public. That's where a TV ad campaign, and targeted digital promotion on social media can really help. But we also really need help from our existing members and supporters to spread the word. The more people we reach, the greater the number of bikes we can bring back into use, and we will see more people cycling."

The combined reach of the promotional activity for Big Bike Revival (across TV, online and through social media) is set to reach over 12 million people. With data monitoring and follow-up research with event participants, Cycling UK will be able to determine the impact of this increased scale of project promotion on the overall impact and success of the Big Bike Revival.

Support our promotion efforts through Thunderclap

The promotional message will be sent out on Friday 22 July in the evening, and is currently set to reach over 158,000 people simultaneously. We hope to reach over a quarter of a million people by the time the message is sent. Sign up now to help us reach more people with our Big Bike Revival message.
