More mountain bike trails on the way for England
When it comes to mountain biking it has to be said that the UK can boast some of the best trails in the world, with Wales and Scotland leading the way, England has for a long time been playing catch up. However, it's great to hear of two purpose built trail developments coming soon so we look forward to updating CTC's mountain bike trail map soon.
The first is in Swinley Forest, Bracknell in Berkshire where the land owner Crown Estates is making a significant investment in mountain bike infrastructure. The new trail network is aimed at reducing the environmental impact and increasing rider enjoyment.
With a range of trails planned there will be something for all skill levels with The Lookout Discovery Centre acting as the hub.
Meanwhile in Sherwood Pines Forest the Forestry Commission are investing £20,000 in rebuilding and upgrading their Bike Park. They promise “a fresh and fast flowing experience, complete with rock jumps and tight turns.” They are also creating 'Dual Descender’ trails, where riders can race each other in parallel.
I have witnessed first-hand just how much of a draw for riders the Bike Park has been since it opened and I am pleased to hear it's getting a makeover so the trails will be even better.

Meanwhile in the South west of England 1SW project is busy developing a network of trails across the South West Peninsula.
