Cardiff Cyclists' Touring Club
About us
We are the local members’ group for Cardiff of Cycling UK, a UK-wide organisation that campaigns for cyclists’ rights and promotes cycling in a variety of forms – touring, leisure, commuting and family – with local groups in over 100 UK towns and cities. As a local group, we organise weekend and Wednesday evening cycle rides, and some social events too. Our rides are almost entirely on-road, using lanes, cyclepaths and quieter routes wherever possible. We ride at a steady-to-leisurely pace, with frequent regrouping-stops, and usually a café- or pub-stop en route.
You don’t have to be a member of Cycling UK to try out our rides, so why not come along and see if it’s for you. All rides are free. If after three rides you’re hooked, then you will be expected to join Cycling UK. Membership benefits and application details can be found on the Cycling UK website.
Information about the group rides
Meet us on the first Saturday of every month outside Pedal Power Café (closed), off Dogo Street, Pontcanna, CF11 9JJ. Even though the café is closed, the surroundings are green, quiet and away from traffic, and so make a pleasant space for a socially-distanced chat. If you’d like to find out more about Cardiff CTC and Cycling UK, come and say ‘Hello’ we then head off on an easy-paced ride around the lanes at 10.30 a.m. The rides are about 25 to 30 miles and at an easy pace so that we can ride together. We get back in to Cardiff approximately by 3.30 p.m. The rides are on road and, getting out of Cardiff, they can be busy, so if you aren’t comfortable about cycling in traffic or have any other questions, come and have a coffee and a chat. Any questions please get in touch with the leader listed for the ride on the Weekend rides page.
We have other rides as and when our ride leaders put them on, so keep an eye on our website.
