Walk, Run, Cycle in and around East Dunbartonshire
Our activities
About us
Walk Run Cycle in and around East Dunbartonshire (WRCED) was set up during Covid Pandemic, as a Facebook site to share local walks and cycle routes, helping people to find suitable places to exercise. When the restrictions eased we started to organise Walk and Talk events, helping people to meet and show others their favourite routes.
The Group has grown to have over 7,500 members. We now run multiple events each week including twice weekly early morning walks, weekly health walks (with Paths for All), regular 8- 10km walks locally, Campsie Fells, Kilpatrick Hills, and further afield for those who want to tackle Munros. In addition WRCED is involved in regular Litter Picking, plus organising Santa Dash, Easter Egg Hunt etc.
CYCLING
We organise varying lengths of Cycles for our Members trying to match the distance, terrain and surface with attendees capabilities and requirements.
East Dunbartonshire is a great location for Cycling, sitting across Forth and Clyde Canal. The canal provides easy cycling East, to Antonine Wall, Falkirk Wheel, Kelpies and the Forth, and West to Stockingfield Bridge, Kelvin Pathway and Bowling on River Clyde (and onward to Loch Lomond). Additionally we have access to Strathkelvin Railway Path which connects to Strathblane and West Highland Way.
