Ride Report: John Rickett
Today saw Paul and myself at the Meridian Centre at 10.00. It was a lovely day with the sun quickly warming the air. We decided that Grange Farm Park at Maltby le Marsh would make a suitable destination so set off on the usual route of Stewton Lane, The Carltons, Gayton Top, Withern, Strubby and Maltby. Paul had obviously been eating his porridge again as he set a blistering pace and despite a headwind it took less than an hour to get to the cafe.
Something must be about to happen, there was a profusion of Union Jacks and bunting being put out, one lady who was admiring a crown she had just placed on a gatepost, insisted it was the real thing, if it was it might not be there tomorrow.
Strangely we were the only people in the Stables restaurant but we got the undivided attention of the young lady serving, so that was a bonus.
After coffee and egg bun or bacon sandwich, we returned via Beesby, Claythopre (too soon to stop again), Little Cawthorpe and back to the Leisure Centre arriving at 12.40. More coffee, then we parted company for the respective trips home.
I covered 36 miles, for Paul it would have been much more.
It was a beautiful warm day and the first time this year where two layers were more than enough, Spring has finally arrived.
