Waltham 28-01-2024

Group of people riding
Cycling UK Louth ride to Waltham,
28th January 2024.

Ride Leader and Ride Report by Paul Linder.
Sunday’s club ride was a D shaped route north to Waltham and it was fortunate we had chosen to ride it in an anticlockwise direction because the strong southerly wind seemed to favour us most of the longer out ward journey and although directly in our faces when returning to Louth it was a shorter distance.

In the past we had enjoyed refreshments at Chuzzlewits tea rooms or in the former railway carriage near the Waltham windmill but as both for the time being are closed we headed for the Blue Dragonfly tea rooms on the high street. Tim was not with us this weekend (visiting fellow club member Rob in Tenerife) but he was still looking after us and upon entering the tearoom we were ushered to a reserved booked table.
Chris Owen only just returned from a 3 months stay in Thailand was soon to join us, good to see him again. Alan updated us on the progress he has made building a recumbent cycle, Steve told us about amplifying a ukulele and by the time the conversation had turned to the merits of using nail varnish instead of loctite, it was time to leave.

Arriving back at Louth’s Meridian leisure centre having covered 34 miles just before 2 o’clock there was time for one more coffee and the decision made that the Wednesday Wander would be to Maltby le Marsh leaving at the usual time of 10 o’clock.
