Cheddington via Stockwood Park

On the Nicky Line towards Redbourn

A great turnout of 11 people were at the start in Leverstock Green on a warm and dry day at the beginning of September. Kev led us on a wiggly route through urban Hemel Hempstead to pick up the Nicky Line (old railway path) towards Redbourn. The first part is now a really good tarmac surface which unfortunately stops just past the Cherry Tree Lane bridge. However, after a dry summer the surface was OK and thus we avoided using the main road. After crossing Redbourn common, we went past the golf club up to Kinsbourne Green, then the group climbed up and over into the the Lea Valley, before the ascent up to Stockwood Park via Capability Green. Gary and I went directloy to the café shortcutting a bit to meet Steve who was meeting us at 10.45. We sat in the sunshine on the balcony overlooking the golf course, where Angela joined us having initially gone to the wrong café.

The group went on to lunch in the Three Horseshoes Cheddington but as I needed to get back I missed the rest of the ride. Picture below is our start point in Leverstock Green
