About us
Membership gives you access to all of our rides, social events and competitions. We are members of British Cycling, the Yorkshire Cycling Federation and Cycling UK. Some members just ride socially, or attend Sunday club runs, others race in cyclocross, triathlon, duathlon and time trials. There’s a wealth of knowledge amongst our members to support a range of abilities and goals, be it to complete a steady social club run or to ride from Lands End to John o’ Groats.
Sunday is our main club run day, meeting at Drighlington Crossroads at 8:30am (British Summer Time) and 9:00am during the remainder of the year. We generally split into two groups with the stronger A Group riding at a faster pace with a second B Group following the same route at a steadier pace. Both groups have a café stop on route and ride at the pace of the slowest rider, never leaving anyone behind.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays we have our social rides, these depart Drighlington crossroads all year at 9:30am. As these are conducted during the week, the group have affectionately named themselves the PAWS group or the ‘Pensioners and Work-Shy’. These rides are similar to the Sunday B group runs, some hilly and some flat (with some drive outs in the summer). The rides have a relaxed approach for those who like a social mid-week ride with a café stop.
On Wednesday evenings we have a training ride, ideal for those who would like to build speed and fitness. Departing Drighlington Crossroads all year at 6:30pm, the group tend to head east on a flat loop of around 35 miles during the dark winter months. During the summer, these rides can expand onto quieter roads and take in more challenging and hilly terrain. Regardless of distance, the aim is for a maximum ride time of two hours.
