About us
Cyclebag East are a Cycling UK affiliated group based in Bristol. We are a long established touring group offering regular rides around the Bristol area. The group was originally created to promote the social side of Cyclebag which was responsible for the development and use of the Bristol to Bath Cycle path. For the past thirty eight years Cyclebag East has provided programmes of activities which have changed from time to time in general accordance with members wishes. Our rides tend to be social and at a leisurely pace. Length of rides is between 30 and 55 miles stopping for morning coffee, lunch and sometimes afternoon tea. We have a committee and regular ride planning meetings are held to plan a ride programme in advance. Rides can be weekly to fortnightly throughout the year and in summer 'pop up' rides occur in between rides on the programme.
Historically we have organised 'moving on' touring holidays and also cycling holidays based in one place with rides and walks in the local area organised throughout the holiday.

Information about the group rides
We tend to have a ride programme planned in advance and also some 'pop up' rides which are arranged at short notice. The rides are usually on a Saturday. All members are invited to offer to lead rides around a route of their own choosing. Ride leaders plan the meeting point and time, ride route and refreshment stops and also rides up front to lead those on the ride.
Cyclebag East is a social cycling group, with a focus on leisurely rides with an easy to moderate pace with varying distances up to perhaps 50/60 miles. Members are expected to stay behind the ride leader and follow instructions where necessary. If you leave the group to travel at a faster pace and lose the group, you do so at your own risk.
