World car free day 2022

World Car Free Day encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day and think about how they can use more sustainable transport for everyday journeys.

This year’s car free day comes at a time when cycling levels are already surging across the UK as the impact of record fuel prices is felt: because more cycling is not just a solution to the climate crisis, but an effective way for households to mitigate the impact of the cost of living crisis, too. So on September 22, do you really need to take the car? Does your commute, shop or school run fall into the 71% of UK car journeys which are under 5 miles? Why not consider:

• Organising activities at work to encourage staff and colleagues to leave their cars at home
• Connecting with others to support and promote world car free day
