North East Lincolnshire Poppy Ride

The North East Lincolnshire is an annual free-to-ride cycling event that raises funds for the Royal British Legion and Royal British Legion Industries through donations at the point of registration. Registration takes place from 8.30 am with the first group of riders getting underway at 9.15 am.

The ride is 75 miles distance and starts and ends at the British Legion Club at Waltham, North East Lincolnshire taking in the glorious Lincolnshire Wolds riding through some pretty villages, along (mostly) quiet country roads, sometimes single carriageway, and for short, unavoidable main roads which are generally quiet on Sundays.  Sadly there are some potholes and grit, gravel and farm detritus on some of the more narrow, single-track roads.

Risk assessments have been carried out and copies are available.

The route is not marked or signposted and there are no ride leaders.  Maps and route cards will be available at the registration point and the route can be downloaded to devices. It is the responsibility of the rider to ensure they are riding the correct way.

The event will be a 'Register and Ride' event when riders will set off in ability/average speed groups as follows;

9.15 am riders averaging 14 mph and under.

9.30 am riders averaging 14 mph to 17mph.

9.45 am riders averaging 17 to 20 mph

10 am riders averaging over 20 mph.

There is plenty of free car parking within half a mile of the registration point and some at the RBL Club.

There will be pre-ride drinks and after-ride refreshments at the start/finish location.

There is a cafe stop just after halfway, JJ's Hagworthingham, where refreshments can be purchased, water bottles re-charged, and where toilet facilities are available.
