Cycle To Church
Event description
Churches on the Trans Pennine Trail are opening their doors on Saturday 17 August to offer a fun family day out - all accessible by bike!
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Trans Pennine Trail and to offer a warm welcome for visitors, six churches along the trail will be open for activities and refreshments between 10am and 4pm. Visit all six, or just stop at any churches that take your interest.
Climb our soaring bell towers, relive Peterloo history, relax and listen to some uplifting music, take some time out in our beautiful churchyards. Discover the hidden secrets of the churches on the Trans Pennine Trail!
The Revd Kate Burgess from St Matthew, Stretford, said “This is a great opportunity for families to enjoy a low-cost day out. Explore the area on your bike and visit some of our churches that are open on the route. We will be offering a bit of bell ringing, making some eco-crafts and smoothies, and you can see what the churches are doing to care for the wellbeing of our planet. You’ll be able to sample homemade cakes with a cup of tea, coffee or juice. What more could you want in the August holidays?”
Use our map of the trail to help plan your route and get a stamp on your passport, available at each church, for every church you visit!
What are you waiting for? We're looking forward to welcoming you!
Starting at St Matthews Church, BBR will provide guidance, small repairs and demo electric bikes and mobile mechanics along the trail...
