C&NW CTC Bob Clift Memorial Cheshire Cycleway Rides 2025
Event description
Created by Bob Clift, the 150 mile Cheshire Cycleway was originally established in 1986. This event celebrates Bob's memory, with two shorter rides better suited to current town and road conditions.
The rides give you the opportunity to cycle either 50 miles through the beautiful West Cheshire countryside or 80 miles through the Eastern side towards a slightly more hilly region.
The start/finish is at Duddon Village Hall Willington Road Tarporley CW6 0EZ where there is ample free parking.
Both rides have a common start to Whitegate Station Cafe at 20 miles.
The 50 mile western route then passes Oulton Park to have lunch in Bunbury. Then onward to Cholmondley, west of Nantwich, and return past historic Beeston Castle.
The 80 mile eastern route visits Davenham and Marton before heading to Astbury near Congleton for lunch. The return leg is via Hassall Green, Church Minshull and Alpraham to an optional break at Bunbury; followed by Beeston castle to pick up a similar return route to the West ride.
This event is established for small groups of self led riders; it is not a race or a sportive. There is no sag wagon. If you get into difficulties or cannot finish the ride----contact the event organiser on the phone number given on the route sheet. We shall do our best to help---but are unlikely to be in a position to provide a rescue service.
The minimum age for entries is 10 years old for the West ride and 16 years old for the East ride on 01/01/2025. Any rider under the age of 18y on this date must be accompanied by a parent or carer throughout the ride.
The entry fee includes cost of tea/coffee biscuits (at start and finish) and lunch.
Further details of each ride and entry are given on the Entry Central site where online entry to the events can be made https://www.entrycentral.com/cheshirecycleway
