Rebecca Fitzgerald

Championing cycling and community in Northern Ireland

Rebecca bought her first bike in 2019 and hasn’t looked back since.

“I wish I’d bought one sooner because it gives you back so much love and fun. It’s hard to explain until you experience it yourself.”

Cycling has opened up the world to Rebecca—she’s toured Portugal and Spain, completed sportives across Ireland, and most recently took part in the Tour de Connemara. Closer to home, Rebecca is a key figure in the Belfast cycling community.

She has been instrumental in organising Belfast’s first Fancy Women’s Bike Ride and is a dedicated volunteer with Cycling UK NI events. Rebecca also advocates for cycling as part of the Belfast Cycle Campaign, leading events and championing safer, more inclusive cycling infrastructure.

As a qualified ride leader, she takes beginners and less experienced riders out on ‘Community Bike Rides,’ inspiring women to see that cycling is for everyone. Rebecca’s long-standing commitment to cycling also includes years of involvement with Cycling Ireland, from women’s rides to initiatives like 'Cycle Against Suicide.’

“I just want to show women can and do cycle!”
