After growing up in the Netherlands, cycling is ‘just’ a part of life for Marjan. Before she moved to the UK, activism around cycling felt like a thing from the past.
That changed when Marjan started cycling here and particularly when she got involved with Bikes for Refugees Scotland. She immediately loved their mission, which is what is says on the tin – to provide New Scots with a refurbished bicycle, and Marjan has been a valued board member almost since the start of the charity five years ago.
“I love how giving people a bicycle gives them an independent and cheap form of transport.”
