Jenny Box said...
"I learnt to cycle as a child, and growing up in the countryside it became a staple mode of transport for getting to friends' houses and for our adventures! Cycling became a regular feature in my life again when I moved to London in my 20s as it was a quicker way to complete the commute to work. Following that, through 2020 I became a lockdown cliché, cycling more to get out of the house, clear my head and look after my physical and mental wellbeing.
"My biggest involvement in cycling however, has been all about providing opportunities for others to cycle; whether that be for social connectedness, wellbeing, short journeys or fun!
"As head of behaviour change for England at Cycling UK, I've been leading the team of amazing development officers and project managers who deliver our key funded programmes to run free events through the Big Bike Revival, set up and support Community Cycle Clubs, or deliver our Cycle for Health project, as well as work with key partners on our Experience tourism project. These opportunities are welcoming and inclusive, with no pre-conceived ideas about how much you may or may not have cycled before, they just want you to feel confident on the cycle and see it as the choice for you for your every day short journeys or leisure activities.
It is a privilege to work with such an inspiring bunch of people and to see the differences our programmes can make in people's lives

"It is a privilege to work with such an inspiring bunch of people and to see the differences our programmes can make in people's lives. Being a spokesperson for the team, or working to secure new funding to deliver our projects, is made easier by being able to talk about the visible real life impact we're having to thousands of people each year who have never cycle before, or haven't done for many years. I love being able to share the benefits of cycling both professionally and personally, and will be a lifelong advocate of the work we do, and supporting as many people to cycle as we can!"
