As the Communications and Community Officer for Camcycle, Anna works tirelessly to engage with the local Cambridge community, raising awareness of cycling stories, issues and experiences of the many different people who cycle or would like to cycle. Passionate about climate-change, she is convinced cycling will play a huge role in the solution. She lives by her values, and her family of five live a car-free lifestyle that is an inspiration to others.

"I was given my first bike for my fourth birthday but didn’t really fall in love with cycling until I moved to Oxford as a teenager. It’s a place with high levels of everyday cycling and soon every member of my family was riding a bike for journeys to work, school, shops and friends’ houses. After riding up hills and along former railway paths at university in Bath, I moved to the UK’s cycling capital and now find it difficult to imagine living anywhere else! Over half of Cambridge residents cycle at least once a week and it’s an inspiring city in which to live, work and bring up children.

"I’m passionate about raising awareness of the cycling stories, issues and experiences of the many different people who cycle or would like to cycle in Cambridgeshire and it’s been a privilege to move from member to volunteer to employee of Camcycle, an amazing organisation which has been transforming cycling in and around Cambridge for over 25 years.

"I enjoy working with staff and volunteers on big campaigns for change and exciting events like the Cambridge Festival of Cycling, but just as wonderful is having the opportunity to start up conversations on cycling with anyone and everyone I meet! I have been concerned about climate change since I was a 10-year old with a Blue Peter Green Book and I am convinced that cycling will play a huge part in the solution, as well as bringing a host of other benefits to our neighbourhoods in terms of health, wellbeing, community cohesion and social justice.

"I’d like to help everyone that wants to cycle discover their path to independence and joy. Watching my three young children progress from balance bikes to pedalling miles across this beautiful city has been magical!"
