Ravinder Virdee
By Victoria Heywood
Ravinder has been supporting the Bike Hive for two years. Based in Manchester, the Bike Hive is a community bike project run by volunteers which encourages and supports local people to get cycling and repair and recycle bikes.
Ravinder’s key role is to help people start or get back into cycling. Remarkably, Ravinder only learnt to ride at the age of 50 – a fact she is happy to share to encourage new cyclists who feel they may never be able to do it.
Ravinder’s nomination reads, “Ravinder's enthusiasm is infectious… We need more women like Ravinder to encourage people to take up cycling at any age and communicate the joy that cycling can bring!”
