Dilys Gartside
Dilys Gartside made quite the career change when after 30 years as a solicitor she decided to become a full-time cycling instructor. Dilys herself came to cycling relatively late at the age of 25, and she’s keen to show children and adults alike the joy it can bring. Dilys is a Parish councillor responsible for highways too, and often gives inspirational talks about her cycling adventures at Women’s Institute meetings.
Dilys is also an avid volunteer cycle campaigner in her native Dorset, with her greatest achievement being the opening of Little Lane, a new safer route for walkers, cyclists and horse riders connecting the North Dorset village of Okeford Fitzpaine with Shillingstone and the North Dorset Trailway. Dilys was instrumental in securing funding for the project, transforming the muddy path with a new surface and restored drainage. Little Lane opened to all in January this year.
