Island views: The Greenock Cut
The Inverclyde Bothy encourages more people to walk and cycle on a daily basis. It's a collaborative project, led by Cycling UK, which is based at Gourock train station and is active across Inverclyde.
The bothy offers a range of activities - including health walks, bike maintenance classes, e-bike try-outs and led bike rides.
The Inverclyde Bothy team love this scenic route, which is great for bikes with slightly more robust tyres.
The Greenock Cut is an incredibly popular walk, but can also be a great fun on two wheels for all the family. Traffic free and with fascinating local history and unbeatable views to the islands and into the Trossachs, this is one not to miss!
You can start from either the Greenock Cut Visitor Centre or the Overton Access car park. There is one hill to negotiate but it isn’t very long and, if needed, it’s only a short push. The rest of the route is pancake flat!
What to bring
You’ve got to bring your camera with you for this one and make sure you have some cash for a café stop at Greenock Cut!
Where to linger
Whilst there, the Greenock Cut visitor centre is a must-visit and you’ll also enjoy stopping for some of the kissing gates! See if you can spot the legendary Greenock Cut Oak. Can you spot Inverkip Marina down below?
