Dale was committed to campaigning for improved cycling and pedestrian facilities in Cheshire and beyond. He chaired the local Cycling UK-affiliated campaign group, Cycle Wilmslow, was formerly a local representative for Living Streets, worked in partnership with Sustrans and was a member of Cheshire East Countryside Access Forum. He enjoyed riding with Macclesfield Wheelers as well as heading off on his own expeditions in the UK and abroad. Shortly after returning from a cycling tour of Chile with his daughter he was taken ill. He remained positive and inspirational until the very end.
Dale is survived by his wife, Jan, and their three children – all of whom picked up the cycling bug from him.
