Codes of conduct for sharing paths
By Cherry
Shared-use paths are popular with people who are looking for motor-traffic free routes, either for leisure or for travelling to work, school or to the shops, for example. Inconsiderate use undermines the tranquillity and attraction of these paths and is particularly intimidating for people with reduced mobility, or who have hearing or vision difficulties.
Well-promoted codes of conduct help encourage harmonious interaction on shared-use paths, including:
- Be Nice, Say Hi!’ (Cycling UK/British Horse Society) on how cyclists should interact with horses and their riders
- Cycling UK's code for mountain bikers
