A Certificate of Appreciation for local Cycling UK volunteer Martyn Aldis
Martyn Aldis, a member of Cycling UK-affiliated group Falmouth Wheelers Cycling Club, was recently awarded a Going the Extra Mile Certificate of Appreciation by Cycling UK.
Martyn, who lives at Mylor, was presented with the certificate by Kath Key, Chair of the Falmouth Wheelers at their monthly meeting at Wood Lane Social Club.
In presenting the award, Kath noted that Martyn has been an active member of the club for more than a decade, and has represented Cycling UK members in Cornwall for several years, contributing to responses on local and countywide road schemes in order to best promote cycling within Cornwall. He is also a former Secretary of CTC Cornwall.
Going the distance
Martyn is also a keen long-distance cyclist, a passion he shares with his wife Margaret pictured with him above, and organises several events in Cornwall each year through Audax Kernow - these attract cyclists from all over the country to ride in the glorious Cornish countryside.
We are very grateful to him and are delighted to recognise his achievements with a well-deserved Certificate of Appreciation.
Alex Cuppleditch, Head of Volunteering
Cycling UK's Head of Volunteering, Alex Cuppleditch, said: "Volunteers such as Martyn are vital in enabling millions more people to cycle - without them and their incredible energy and motivation, there would be far fewer opportunities to take part in fun and enjoyable cycling events, such as those organised by Martyn in Cornwall, or benefit from better infrastructure for everyday journeys. We are very grateful to him and are delighted to recognise his achievements with a well-deserved Certificate of Appreciation."
