Cycling UK celebrates the Big Bike Revival with free led bike rides in October
Cycling UK’s Big Bike Revival is supporting a programme of led cycle rides this October as part of celebrating the Big Bike Revival activity, getting people to experience cycling.
This year's Big Bike Revival saw hundreds of community groups and organisations across the UK offering free bike repairs and maintenance, as well as training and led cycle rides, in May and June. Supported with small grants from Cycling UK, community groups put on cycling activities that aimed to re-ignite people’s love of cycling and encourage everyday cycle trips.
Due to the great success of the Big Bike Revival, clubs and groups have again teamed up to provide more cycling events and activities, with a programme of led rides in October.
Autumn is a cracking time of year for a bike ride, and we are looking forward to offering Big Bike Revival led rides to people who rediscovered cycling this summer, as well as celebrate our cycling activities over the last few months.
Susan Keywood, Big Bike Revival England Project Manager
October’s Big Bike Revival led rides are a great opportunity to get out on a bike and to celebrate an end to a packed summer of cycling across England and Scotland. The rides will showcase low-traffic routes, are led by trained ride leaders and will give people the opportunity to see their community from a bike’s view.
Cycling UK's Big Bike Revival England Project Manager, Susan Keywood, said: “Autumn is a cracking time of year for a bike ride, and we are looking forward to offering Big Bike Revival led rides to people who rediscovered cycling this summer, as well as celebrate our cycling activities over the last few months. Local groups have been keen to help us introduce more people to cycling, as it offers so many benefits for individuals and the local community.
"It’s fun, healthy, and benefits the area as an environmentally friendly way to get about for short, everyday journeys. We hope our rides will showcase just how enjoyable cycling is.”
There are a wide range of autumnal rides and activities on offer, from family-friendly jaunts of a few miles through to more challenging routes with hills and distance.
