About us
We are the Alfreton Member Group of the Cycling Tourists Club. We organise rides to suit all ages and abilities, including:-
Beginners Rides take place at weekends and on Wednesday mornings throughout the year, and on Thursday evenings from May to September. These are designed for those who are new to cycling. Short Rides are the ideal introduction to club cycling. Rides of 20 - 30 miles with a refreshment stop en route. Not always suitable for children. Please check in advance. Rides take place at weekends and on Wednesday evenings throughout the year. Some rides are "car-assisted" to enable riders to explore further afield. Day Rides are the traditional club run. A full day covering 50 - 80 miles at a moderate pace with stops for elevenses, lunch and afternoon tea. Rides take place at weekends and on Tuesdays throughout the year. Audax Rides are enter events organised under Audax UK rules. These are non-competitive rides over distances ranging from 50 to 1400Km, to be ridden within set speed limits. Rides must be entered at least two weeks in advance. The member group also organises it own events. Touring Rides involve an overnight stay, normally in Youth Hostels, hotels or B&B. Riders carry their luggage on their bikes. These include short weekend breaks and longer trips. We have visited a variety of destinations at home and abroad. |
