Join us for our annual get together, the Big Bike Celebration
With Birmingham fast becoming a hotbed of cycling, new initiatives popping up to get the population on to two wheels, lots of community projects, a really proactive council plus a new West Midlands Mayor who has put cycling at the heart of his policies, Cycling UK thought this is the perfect location to hold our 2017 national get together; the Big Bike Celebration.
Taking place at a fab venue in central Birmingham called the studio, not only will we be showcasing our own members and volunteers’ achievements, but we’ll be celebrating and learning from other grassroots projects across the UK. We also have a fantastic panel of speakers who will provide us with a fascinating insight into their own experiences and successes with cycling, including former world champion Chris Boardman MBE and former national mountain bike champion and Director of the Adventure Syndicate Lee Craigie.
We'll be welcoming representatives from exemplary community clubs and reflecting on our own initiatives such as our first Women’s Festival of Cycling, our Challenge rides series, campaigning including our Rides of Way off-road advocacy work, which is already primed to open up swaths of countryside to cyclists.
Starting at 11am and finishing just after 4pm, the event will be inspiring, social and fun. It will also include celebrating the worthy winners of our Volunteers of the Year Awards during lunch.
If you have someone you'd like to nominate, and/or a group, club or event, you can do it quickly and easily via our online nomination form.
Please come and join us at this free get together and share your own experiences, as well as learn from others as we try to answer the big cycling questions and look forward to the next year ahead, continuing to inspire and get many more people cycling more often.
