Social Rides Winter Weather Policy
The club has a duty of care to participants. With regards to ‘Assessing Risk’, Cycling UK Louth operates the following winter weather policy:
Routes are reviewed before the ride considering the weather forecast, and rides rerouted, shortened, delayed, or cancelled if risk is too high.
The rides will typically be cancelled or at the very least rerouted, shortened, delayed if any of the following are forecast:
• Torrential rain, flooding, heavy snow, severe electrical storm.
• Surface winds gusting 40 mph or more.
• Widespread ice.
• Air Temperature remaining below 3 Degrees Celsius or wind chill remaining below Zero Degrees Celsius.
• Visibility less than 50 m.
Club members however remain free to ride at their own risk but any such ride will not be considered to be an official Cycling UK Louth ride.
