John Cutler

John Cutler

I think you may well know of the death of our friend John Cutler.  He died in Devon on Saturday morning following a short illness.  He had been visiting his family for Christmas.

Northampton Chronicle and Echo has published an obituary, written by members of CTC Northampton and CTC Milton Keynes, which you can read here:  https://www.northamptonchron.co.uk/news/cycling-club-mourns-longstandin…

I have also heard from some of his old friends with some memories that made me smile.  Here are three of them:

"Once we were at Beaumanor.  We were camping and he had to meet somebody from CTC headquarters.  He had forgotten his teeth so he cycled back home to get them!”

“We went camping - cannot remember where - and John had had a little too much vino.  He slept the night with his legs inside the tent and the rest of his body outside!”

"I shall miss him very much. He came to The Boat in Stoke Bruerne before Christmas.  I did not recognise him at first, but we sat together for all the time he was there and we had a really long chat, neither of us in good health but neither of us realising it would be the last time we would meet.”

The main purpose of my e-mail, however, is to give you advance notice of John’s outline funeral arrangements.  His daughter, Meg, has been in touch to ask me to circulate this early.

            Date:    Monday 26th February

            Time:   1.00 p.m.

            Place:  The Counties Crematorium

The address of the crematorium is Towcester Road, Milton Malsor, Northampton, NN4 9RN.  Details of the crematorium including directions and car parking are here:  https://www.dignityfunerals.co.uk/crematoria-and-cemeteries/crematoria/…

The family will have decided on a venue for after the funeral before too long. Meg will issue a formal notification at that point. If, however, you wish to reply to her earlier, her e-mail address is [email protected].

With best wishes,

Ian Macsporran
