Chapel St Leonards 4-12-22

Cycling UK Louth Ride to Chapel St Leonards. Sunday 4th December 2022.

Ride Report by Paul Linder.

As it so often happens when it only slightly drizzles, individuals had to decide before departing on Sunday's ride to Chapel St Leonards if drizzle would soon turn into the forecasted showers and justify donning wet weather clothing from the start. As it turned out we would have got away without.

With Tim away attending the 71st Annual Cyclists' Carol Service and other regular riders committed elsewhere it was left for John Rickett, Alan Hockham and Paul Linder to fly the flag for the Louth group. We were delighted to be accompanied on our ride by John Weeks who had cycled from near Horncastle to join us. Pedalling on familiar roads we passed through Alford and Willoughby before turning eastwards towards the Lincolnshire coast.

From Hogsthorpe only a short ride along the A52 and we were at the Chapel Garden Centre, our lunch venue. Even though our arrival coincided with the restaurant being very busy providing Sunday lunches our snacks were soon served and we agreed this was a good stop for future east bound rides.

Upon leaving the Garden Centre we said goodbye to John Weeks who planned to find a direct route home and at Markby Alan would also depart to his home in nearby Sutton on Sea. Helped by a following wind John and Paul continued along the published route but decided to forgo a further stop at Woody’s, arriving back at Louth’s Meridian Centre at 2.15 pm.
