Spokes for Folks
Spokes for Folks is a local Inverness charity which provides sociable trike rides in and around Inverness for elderly and frail folk, and also for adults, young and old, with special needs. We have a great team of volunteers who pedal our trikes (we call them pilots) and we currently have a 'fleet' of nine trikes. Seven are conventional trikes, each of which carries two passengers as well as the pilot (who pedals the trike) and two are wheelchair trikes, designed specially to carry wheelchairs. All are electric assisted trikes. Our trikes can be seen around Inverness Monday to Friday most weeks of the year, weather permitting of course.
Our trikes were funded by donations from a variery of sources. These include Hitrans, Highland Council Common Good Fund, the Highland Cross. We also receive many other generous donations from both individuals and also a number of local businesses who provide us with sufficient funds to cover the annual maintenance and runnng costs of the trikes.
If you know someone who would benefit from a ride on our trikes - please let us know -just contact our Secretary, contact details below.
And if you'd like to help - please shout! We are always looking for pilots, but we also need maintenance folk and administrators. Again, just get in touch with our Secretary, contact details below.
