Winchester Cyclefest lead ride from Southampton
Event description
Direct 16 mile route from Southampton to Winchester, following much of the River Itchen, the route is using mostly quiet roads, cycle paths and a viaduct.
There will be a morning coffee stop/comfort break at The Pavilion Cafe in Fleming Park, Eastleigh, and optional lunch at The Bike Hub in Winchester.
It’s advisable to wear a Bike Helmet and bring suitable wet weather clothing. Also bring spare tubes, pump, money for the café stops and train fare back to Southampton if you are not riding back with us.
Our route from Southampton takes us via The Boardwalk, Riverside Park, Wide Lane to Eastleigh (using mostly cycle paths), Fleming Park, Boyatt Wood, Otterbourne (On Road), then on The Viaduct cycle route into Winchester.
For those wishing to spend longer in Winchester to enjoy the event, there is the option of returning by train.
Or you are welcome to return (16 miles), with us and we will retrace the route back to Southampton, time of departure to be agreed on the day.
This is a Southampton Cycling Campaign Ride open to all adults plus accompanied over 12s riding to Winchester and back, led by Jim Probert
