North East Lincolnshire Poppy Ride
Event description
There will be three social rides, one of 75 miles, commemorating 75 years since VE Day, 8th May 1945 and VJ Day, 15th August 1945 of WW2. one of 50 miles for those wishing to complete a shorter route as well as a family ride of 25 miles.
All rides will start and finish at the Royal British Legion in Waltham. There will be an opportunity for a refreshment stop at the Post and Pantry cafe at Donnington on Bain for those on the 75 and 50-mile rides for those that wish to (highly recommended).
The longer rides will be along mostly country roads and lanes and will be through the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds passing through some of the most picturesque villages in Lincolnshire, including Somersby, the birthplace of one of England greatest poets, Alfred Lord Tennyson.
The families ride will be a flat route, again on mostly country roads and some off-road tracks and through private estates. Again passing through some pretty villages on route.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a responsible adult and under 18's for any ride must have written parental/guardian consent.
As these are social ride there will be no entry fee but it is hoped that participants will make a donation to our two causes, The Royal British Legion Industries and the Royal British Legion.
It is recommended that riders take out their own insurance cover (Cycling UK Insurance information).
