About the Club
There are over 400 members in Calderdale, and we run a varied ride and events programme throughout the year, details of which are on our website and Facebook pages (see links above). Tuesday Evening Rides (April-September)
Tuesday evening rides start from the site of Halifax Swimming Poot. Meet 7:15pm for a prompt 7:30pm start. These will run until the end of the summer. These rides use the longer evenings to explore roads, lanes, and sometimes tracks within an easy distance of Halifax, usually between 15 and 20 miles. Please remember to bring some lights with you. The rides finish at the 3 Pigeons for some post-ride refreshments and chat!
Autumn Tints Rides
Calderdale CTC Autumn Tints evolved from the original Autumn Tints Cycling Comrades - we now invite cyclists of any ability, age or gender to join our rides. We promise a warm welcome to all, whether you are an inexperienced rider or someone who would like to try riding within the safety & camaraderie of a group. Rides are held every Wednesday & Saturday, starting at 9:30am, at a steady pace, and wherever possible on quiet & often very scenic routes. We don't avoid the hills, but we always regroup at the top and you will not be berated for getting off to walk if you need to! Distance is usually between 25-45 miles, with a morning coffee stop and a lunch stop. Some people will peel off after the morning stop if they want a shorter ride. Visit the Calendar page on our website for the Start Venue and other details https://calderdalectc.org.uk/events/
Sunday Rides
If you’re a regular rider but want to increase your fitness, get used to climbing, ride with a group or just get to the ‘next level’, then these rides are a good introduction to the club. We tend to average 10 mph (with stops) and the group will aim to stay together for the whole ride. In the summer we usually start at 9am, and rides range from morning rides of around 30 miles with one coffee stop, to day rides of 50-60 miles with two cafe stops. In the winter, we usually start at 9:30am and rides range from 25 - 40 miles with one coffee stop. Sunday rides don't follow a fixed programme and are often published just a couple of days before, on the Events section of our Facebook page - see https://www.facebook.com/groups/ctccalderdale/events
Friday Clubroom
In the winter, you don’t have to stop at home just because of the inclement weather. If you can’t bear to cycle, and if you do, then come along to the clubroom. We have a varied programme of entertainment for cyclists in the long, dark evenings: slide shows, talks, parties, and more.
Clubroom opens at 7:30 and events start at 7:45pm on Fridays, from October through to the end of March. Refreshments provided. Members and non-members are all welcome. A small admission charge of £2 will be made to cover expenses. A few members usually carry on the discussion in The Three Pigeons afterwards! The Clubroom calendar can be found on our website at https://calderdalectc.org.uk/events/
