About us
We are an amateur cycling club, based in Thornbury, near Bristol. Since starting in February 2016 we have approximately 150 subscribing members. (Subs run for calendar year) The club aims to be as inclusive as possible and caters for, and encourages, adult cyclists of all ages (18 yrs+), experience and abilities. As a very friendly club we try to make everyone feel welcome. Organised official club rides happen most weekends, which are aimed at everyone from novices to experienced riders. On most weekends, anyone unable to join one of the official club rides can find other like-minded club members to join up with for an informal ride. We also organise a range of social rides and other activities.
All our rides include refreshment stops to refuel and rest our legs, usually cake or lunch at a cafe or garden centre, wherever is appropriate for the ride.
Information about the group rides
As a rough guide we offer the following official rides (not all rides are offered every weekend):
• Introductory ride Beginners welcome 16 miles - pace of the slowest
• Improvers ride roughly 30-35 miles at 12-14 mph , with some climbing, but nothing too challenging
• Improvers plus ride 35-50 miles at 13-15 mph, with one or two significant climbs
• Intermediate rides 50+ miles, more challenging route at roughly 15 mph
• Advanced rides, these tend to be challenging, pacey, long distance routes.
We always ask that members read the event descriptions carefully. If they aren't sure if the ride is for them then they should contact the ride leader to check.
