Brighton Multicultural Women’s Cycle Club (The BMWs)

Welcome to The BMWs (Brighton Multicultural Women’s Cycle Club) homepage.

We are a Community Cycle Club affiliated to Cycling UK.

Our fun friendly sessions and group rides are enabling local women from diverse ethnic backgrounds to enjoy the freedom of cycling.

About us

Established in June 2021, The BMWs began as an outdoor ESOL and fitness opportunity, in response to requests to learn to ride from migrant women, when many provisions were closed during the Covid pandemic.

We've been sharing the fun, freedom and connection that cycling brings ever since.

We usually meet twice weekly, for training sessions in the Velodrome and the surrounding Preston Park, and rides from Brighton's city centre, with bikes, helmets and bus tickets provided.

We are very grateful for the support we receive from Brighton Bike Hub, Brighton Bike Tours, the Church of Saint John's the Evangelist, Brighton & Hove City Council, Brighton & Hove Buses, the National Lottery Community Fund, Cycling UK, and our fabulous team of volunteers.

BMWs member from Bangladesh: "Cycling was my dream. Alhamdulillah; now I can ride the bicycle."
