"I have always enjoyed cycling, ever since I learnt to ride, however it wasn’t until I began working at Raleigh UK that I got into cycling regularly - in particular during the first lockdown. Being able to get out on my bike was a luxury that I had taken for granted until then. It has had such a positive impact on both my physical and mental health.
"Covid-19 also opened my eyes to the effect that cycling has had on others. Being in the ecommerce team means I work directly with customers and am exposed to their reviews and feedback. For many people cycling provided an opportunity to escape the four walls of their home, whilst keeping fit. Seeing the freedom electric bikes give to those who can’t manage traditional bikes, hearing the enjoyment that families get from cycling together has been incredible. Long may it continue.
"Aside from my day job, I am also part of the team working with our charity partner, World Bicycle Relief, to raise money and provide Buffalo Bikes to remote villages in Africa that need them most. The pandemic has created a lot of financial uncertainty, which in turn has seen charities suffer, so we, Raleigh UK, have made it our mission this year to raise as much money as possible.
The pandemic brought, and continues to bring, some real challenges to the cycling industry as a whole, but the positives really make all the hard work worthwhile

"I also sit on a newly created team working to make Raleigh UK, and ultimately the cycling industry, a more sustainable place. This is really important to me as it is vital that generations to come have the opportunity to enjoy cycling, as we are now.
"The whole team at Raleigh have worked tirelessly to deliver bikes all around the UK, during an incredibly demanding time. This was one of the key reasons I have recently become a mental health first aider in order to be able to provide support to my colleagues, most of whom are still working remotely. The pandemic brought, and continues to bring, some real challenges to the cycling industry as a whole, but the positives really make all the hard work worthwhile."
