Marianne Scott said…
"I have always cycled as a child and I could always be found out and about exploring Angus on my red Raleigh racer zooming down Forfar High Street pretending I was in the Tour de France. To my Mum and Dad's delight this was often raised in conversation with friends and family..... 'we spotted Marianne fleeing aboot on her bike'.
My love and enjoyment of cycling stems from the freedom to travel under my own steam and the endless adventures I can go on in four-season-in-one-day Scotland

"My love and enjoyment of cycling stems from the freedom to travel under my own steam and the endless adventures I can go on in four-season-in-one-day Scotland.
"I have turned my hobby into my job and I'm able to pass on my knowledge, experience and guidance on to everyone, making cycling and bike maintenance fun and exciting for anyone to get involved.
"I can now be found pootling about on my bike across Fife and Scotland still trying to relive my youth by bring out the mountain bike and the cross-country bike to adventure through the paths and roads around me and also to try and not miss my train when working in Perth which always ends up with me running along with my bike on the platform puffing and panting and a red hot sweaty mess, travelling around for work and passing on my love of cycling."

Marianne was nominated for the 100 Women in Cycling by Shelley Gilmour, who said:
"Marianne works tirelessly in the background promoting cycling and active travel across four large local authorities with groups, communities, employers, local authorities, primary and secondary school, nurseries and more. Encouraging them to take part in cycling activities, apply for funding and most of all have fun on bikes during sessions.
"During lockdow,n Marianne provided her local community in Fife with free bike servicing from her house. Repairing and replacing parts for free to ensure that individuals could cycle freely without having to fork out money in an area that is rural, remote and in a high area of deprivation.
She is an inspiration to many and doesn't even realise how much she has helped inspire individuals. She likes to remain in the background and quietly get on with everything

"She also provided the individuals with self-funded lights and puncture repair kits, and gave out helpful advice on how to care for their bikes and cycle safely with knowledge of how to stay active during the coronavirus pandemic. She has encouraged many children, males, females, family and friends to get out and enjoy the freedom of cycling.
"She is an inspiration to many and doesn't even realise how much she has helped inspire individuals. She likes to remain in the background and quietly get on with everything."
