'The Bike Project' mechanic overseeing the building 50 bikes a week for refugees
In 2020, Maria joined The Bike Project, which refurbishes thousands of bikes for refugees and people seeking asylum each year. Each week, Maria manages the workshop and leads a team of mechanics to ensure that enough bikes are refurbished to a high-quality standard for the refugees- which adds up to around 50 bikes a week! She supports the other mechanics and volunteers in their work, helping them to flourish. Maria is an inspirational mechanic and a brilliant role model for other women in the industry, and her work has made a hugely positive impact on the lives of many refugees.
