Kirsty Lewin

Women’s cycling safety campaigner and founder of Infrasisters

In 2021, Kirsty Lewin gathered together a group of women cyclists to lead a night-time ride around Edinburgh, calling for cycling infrastructure that is safe and comfortable for women, particularly at night. That ride, entitled 'Light Up The Night' drew 170+ women.

From this developed a campaign, known as the InfraSisters. Inspired by Kirsty's energy, the InfraSisters hold two large night-time rides each winter around the busy dark streets, briefly reclaiming those spaces and demonstrating how things could be.

Throughout the year, the InfraSisters  lobby both the Council and the Scottish Government on cycling safety and women's cycling safety in particular, attracting regular press coverage.
