Empowering communities through cycling and education
Kath Cochrane has been nominated as a cycle influencer for her outstanding leadership at the Windrush Bike Project, which she co-founded with Brigitte Hickman in 2016. What started as a small community initiative has grown into an impactful social enterprise, delivering bike mechanics training to vulnerable children and adults, recycling bikes and offering a professional repair service. Kath’s dedication to inclusivity has led to the successful expansion of the Bikeability programme, reaching over 1,000 children annually. Wheels for All and an in-house bike library means that children with additional needs, or from disadvantaged families, take part in Bikeability alongside their peers.
