The first black African female to compete internationally
Rwanda is a country new to cycle racing and only in recent years has it been possible for riders to move beyond Africa and into the international field. No females have ever made that break.
Jeanne d’Arc Girubuntu is a trailblazer for the women in her country and black women everywhere. She started training in 2012 and by 2015 she became the first black African woman to compete in the World Championship.
