Ayomide Oluyemi
Championing people of colour, trans and non-binary people into cycling
Ayomide rediscovered the joy of cycling in July 2020, getting back on a bike for the first time in years.
Initially apprehensive, Ayo quickly fell back in love with cycling, finding immense mental health benefits – not just from the physical activity, but from the inclusive and supportive communities they joined. Through their club, Velociposse, Ayo found a space to learn, grow, and connect with others.
Since then, Ayo has embraced giving back to the cycling community. They serve on the Velociposse committee, lead Regent’s Park laps, and have organised a session for trans and non-binary cyclists.
Ayo also leads rides with Cycle Together, supporting new cyclists from underrepresented backgrounds, has trained as a coach and runs skills sessions for people of colour. Their commitment and passion continue to inspire and empower others.
