Alison Litherland

Champion of accessible cycling and community engagement

Since losing her bus pass at 15, Alison Litherland has relied on cycling as her main form of transport, igniting a lifelong passion for making cycling accessible to everyone.

Starting as a cycle instructor, Alison was struck by the barriers many children faced, from lack of equipment to low confidence. Now, as a long-standing member of the Sustrans team, she’s worked with communities from Gateshead to Poplar, leading cycle courses, supporting women’s groups, and training ride leaders.

“My commitment is to ensure no one is locked out of the joy and independence cycling provides.”
