Cycling UK East Midlands Region Mince Pie Run 2023

Following last year’s icy conditions which prevented many from attending, this year the weather gods were on our side and some 300 visitors and participants attended the annual Cycling UK East Midlands Region Mince Pie Run on Sunday 17th December 2023. 

Cycling club’s from across the region supported the event including a contingent from Beeston Cycling Club. Fourteen riders made up the CTC Derby contingent, ten more than last year, with 7 members from Burton CTC members also attending.

The hall was constantly busy and thanks go to all the volunteers from Cycling UK East Midlands Region (especially to organisers John Catt and Ian Hill) who ran the event superbly.

Following the deduction of expenses (food/drink/hall hire etc) the net surplus was £683.80. This was rounded up to £700 to be donated to Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young People. The monies were handed over to Derek Willans on behalf of Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young People at a special presentation on 9th January 2024.

Nicola Richardson, Derbyshire Community Fundraiser for Rainbows sent us this message:

“On behalf of everyone at Rainbows Hospice for Babies, Children and Young People, I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for your wonderful donation of £700.00 from your Cycling UK East Midlands Region Mince Pie Event. I have attached a certificate of ‘Thanks’”.

She also mentioned the Rainbows ‘Open Day’ on Saturday 27th April 2024.
