Rachel Nunn

Founder of Cycle Stirling, making every day cycling the norm

Rachel Nunn’s journey with cycling began as a student, commuting 10 miles daily to university, and evolved into a lifelong commitment to sustainable travel. For Rachel and her family, bikes became the ‘second car,’ a practical and eco-friendly way to navigate life. Her dedication extended to founding Cycle Stirling—a community initiative empowering residents to embrace cycling as a norm.

As a councillor, Rachel leverages her expertise, connections, and unwavering passion to remove barriers and accelerate the transition to active travel. From spearheading her local primary school’s Travel Plan—securing 20 mph limits and Bikeability training—to achieving Stirling’s first Cycling Scotland Cycle Friendly Primary School, Rachel’s leadership continues to inspire transformative change.

"In my work on climate change, colleagues and I set up ‘Cycle Stirling’, working with other enthusiasts in our area to help residents onto bikes, so that ‘getting around’ cycling with all its benefits could be the norm for them as it is for us."
