Olympic medallist Lizzie Deignan will be talking cycling and pregnancy with Cycling UK at a women’s cycling panel this week (Friday 26 June)

Olympian Lizzie Deignan will be talking about juggling life as a mum and as a professional cyclist when she joins Cycling UK’s live women’s cycling panel event on Friday.

Lizzie has defied stereotypes and pushed boundaries by choosing to continue her professional cycling career after becoming a mum to daughter Orla in 2018.

The Trek-Segafredo rider, who is married to fellow professional Philip Deignan, was back racing at the World Championship Road Race in Yorkshire just a year after Orla was born.

She’s previously admitted struggling to find strong role models among other female athletes, but says she has no regrets either personally or professionally.

Other expert guests appearing on the panel alongside Lizzie include women’s health physiotherapist Charlie Stone, mountain biker and new mum& Lucy Follett, and urban cyclewear shop owner and cycling mum Caz Nicklin.

They will be sharing their stories, experiences, tips and advice for cycling during pregnancy and beyond, as well as answering audience questions, as part of Cycling UK’s ongoing series Bants, Bikes and Being Female broadcast live on Facebook and YouTube.

We wanted to create a safe space where women could discuss anything and everything about cycling

Anna Glowinski, Bants, Bikes and Being Female host

Host Anna Glowinski said: “We wanted to create a safe space where women could discuss anything and everything about cycling without fear of being judged or made to feel stupid for asking the ‘wrong question’.

“The series has been hugely popular so far and I’m delighted that Lizzie will be joining us to give her unique perspective on cycling after childbirth and how she incorporates cycling in her family life.”

Episode 5, Pregnancy, Cycling and Kids, will take place on Facebook live on Friday 26 June at 1300.
