About us
The Cycling UK New Forest cycling rally was founded in 1975 and for 35 years was based at the Forestry Commission Roundhill campsite near Brockenhurst.
In 2010, the rally moved to the UK Youth Activity Centre at Avon Tyrrell near Burley, where we have the exclusive use of the rally camping field. We have also negotiated camping fees for rally goers which you will find is much cheaper than stopping on other New Forest campsites.
The rally attracts approximately 250 attendees each year. It is an informal rally for cyclists free from pressure and over-organisation, yet offering activity for all those who wish to join in. It's a rally for cycling families, small groups and individuals whether new to camping or, indeed, more experienced, and age is immaterial!
We welcome all types of camping outfits, large and small tents, caravans and campervans.
There is plenty to see or explore in this unique area. The many minor roads and tracks make enjoyable and safe riding for families and younger riders and there is normally something taking place every day. Various on site activities take place during the evening organised by the members attending the rally, these include, Sunday night Barn Dance with free wine and cheese, children’s time trial. Use of the Avon Tyrrell adventure facilities for children, using their instructors. Friday night we finish with a BBQ and bonfire, which is very popular amongst the children.
We are a friendly bunch of cyclists, many coming year after year.
